In collaboration with Hornsby Shire Council, Loka Consulting Engineers is proud to guide contractors , builders and other engineers by providing two comprehensive Erosion and Sediment Control Plans (ESCPs) for projects across the region, covering both sites falling to the street and sites falling to the back.

These plans provide clear strategies to manage environmental risks during construction, ensuring that soil, stormwater, and vegetation are protected throughout the project lifecycle. Developed in line with the Blue Book – Managing Urban Stormwater, Volume 1 (4th edition), the ESCPs outline practical, enforceable measures that support sustainable development across the Shire.

Key elements of the ESCPs include:

• Stabilised access points to reduce sediment tracking from vehicles.
• Sediment fences and secondary barriers installed along site contours to minimise runoff.
• Stormwater inlet protection with gravel and mesh filters to prevent pollutants entering drains.
• Stockpile management, including shaping, stabilisation, and protective earth banks.
• Designated wash areas for vehicles and equipment to contain wastewater on-site.
• Progressive site stabilisation through revegetation and surface protection measures.
• Structural controls (for rear-falling sites) such as silt curtains, sandbag rows, and pile walls for added protection.
• Regular monitoring and corrective actions to maintain compliance and effectiveness.
