“I’m James, currently concluding my Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) with a specialisation in Civil at Macquarie University.”

Before joining us at LOKA Consulting Engineers, James was eager to apply the theories he learned at university to real-world projects—but he quickly discovered there was much more to engineering than just technical skills.

“Before starting my internship, I was expecting to see how my academic knowledge would be used in industry. But throughout my time here, I’ve come to truly understand the importance of teamwork, communication, and daily attention to detail in ensuring a project’s success.”

Through our hands-on training program, James worked alongside our team on a range of engineering tasks, including:

• Assisting with Construction Traffic Management Plans and Internal Traffic Reviews
  • Learning how to navigate and apply Australian Standards and local council guidelines
  • Gaining exposure to multiple service areas across the business
  • Developing proficiency with key industry software tools

Our mentoring approach helped James explore various civil engineering disciplines and identify where his passion lies.
