“I’m Anna, an undergraduate Civil Engineering student at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), currently in my second year of study.”

Anna joined LOKA Consulting Engineers with a strong interest in understanding how civil engineering theory is applied in real-world projects across the Australian construction industry. Alongside her studies, she was keen to gain practical exposure that would help her build industry knowledge and develop professional skills early in her career.

During her internship at LOKA, Anna gained valuable insight into how the civil engineering industry operates in practice. She developed an initial understanding of key regulatory frameworks, including Australian Standards, the Blue Book, and local council development controls that guide infrastructure and development projects across New South Wales.

Through our structured mentorship environment, Anna worked closely with our engineering team and contributed to a variety of real-world tasks, including:

• Assisting with council dilapidation reports
• Participating in site inspections
• Learning internal traffic assessments
• Preparing construction site management plans
• Assisting with erosion and sediment control plans
• Using tools such as AutoCAD and SIX Maps
